Evolution of Animation
My evolution of learning animation began when I attended Lansing Community College in 2019 and continued onward at the University of Michigan-Flint. Each video project is a step towards learning how to animate characters with visual storytelling. Throughout my college years, I used different software to practice making both animation and motion graphics. With this method, the different applications explore specific tools and methods for designing animations and improving the visual quality of a story.
A Forbidden Romance (2022)
This is the first animatic I made for my Storyboards and Animatic Class at Lansing Community College. The story is a scene from my series “Adventures of Sagel Snow”, with the two main characters (my version of Romeo and Juliet) having a flight scene where they develop deeper feelings while falling in love. The song is from Disney’s ‘Zombies’ called ‘Someday - Ballad’, which fits the main couple’s forbidden love.
A DreamWorks Animatic (2022)
This is the final animatic project I made for my Storyboards and Animatic Class at LCC. The story is me, hopping from one fictional world to another, with the main male characters singing their parts of the song collab. The song is a collaboration with Brian Hull and Peter Hollens singing iconic verses from DreamWorks animated films. The song is called “Epic DreamWorks Medley” (2020).
My First Animation (2023)
This short clip was created using FlipAClip, a digital flip-book app for creating animations. The short clip was for a class assignment in Motion Graphics at Lansing Community College, and was fun to make. I drew each frame by hand, practicing digitally rather than on paper, since animations have been created using this technique for almost a century.
How Luna Became A Witch (2023)
This is a short I made for a 2D Animation Class at Lansing Community College. The animation is all hand-drawn, using the FlipAClip app, and took a month to finish. The story is a brief explanation of one of my characters, Luna, who became a witch at a young age. Luna is introduced later in the “Dragonsdale High” series, and she is one of my sister’s characters based on her.
A Unique Romance (2024)
This animation was a final project for my second Motion Graphics class during my first semester at the University of Michigan-Flint. The project practiced video pacing and learning to create walk cycles for characters. The project used iBis Paint to create the characters and was finalized in Adobe Illustrator; the animation was completed in After Effects. The story was made for a previous partner of mine's birthday, the characters representing us in a fictional world.
Magic Dot Project (2025)
This animation project was for the Image Design class at the University of Michigan-Flint. The project practiced not only video pacing, but also the density of the dots as they move around the screen. The project’s videos were created using Adobe Animate, with the stories being comical and random.
